A completely renovated atmosphere and style now features modern furnishings and functional spaces, which make the historic venue even more pleasant. And then there's the new logo, the "M", which sounds like a family commitment. Here they're looking ahead without forgetting the values that have got them this far. When it comes to the food, on the other hand, quality is guaranteed. Theirs are creations of marked elegance, characterized by great attention to detail, from classics to new additions, in a repertoire that covers all forms of pastry art. For many, their mini pastries are their spearhead, surprising with their play of temperatures and textures, but their single-serving treats and cakes, including bavarois and first-rate mousses (like the Marisa or Mario) are just as good. Their baked goods (an area long close to the family's heart) are impeccable, and it's not just the classics, like the summer panettone, made with candied peaches, lemon and lavender. And then there's the ice cream (in the adjacent parlor), the extraordinary maritozzi with cream, macaroons in a thousand flavors, pralines and chocolate creations, including Velati Svelati, the quintessence of cocoa, all packaged with taste and originality by Erika. Breakfast is not to be missed, thanks to their croissants, danishes, puff pastries, delicious veneziane and the excellent coffee. The online shop is very active.

The story behind the name tells of a girl named Rosetta who grew up with her brothers next to a mill, but rosetta is also a typical Italian bread. The same bread that is in the restaurant's trademark, and which is on the menu in different variants, sweet and savoury. Over the years, Rosetta has multiplied its locations but always remained faithful to its mission of offering baked goods in perfect Italian style, neatly displayed in the counters on view and also to be eaten on the premises, in a cosy, cosy, relaxing environment. Here then are sandwiches with different types of bread and different fillings, "pizza in teglia", focaccia, such as the focaccia di Recco (a small city close to Genova), tarts, bomboloni saccottini and other sweets, to be accompanied by coffee and cappuccinos. Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. It's certainly true that sometimes in the midst of difficulties opportunities arise. This was proven by the Botter family, who after the lockdown (with initiative and foresight), strengthened their online presence and set up a new shop for the sale (throughout Italy) of certain products and for the delivery (locally) of fresh pastry. Siblings Moreno and Moira represent the third generation of an artisan pastry shop that has always shown professionalism and passion, while also wanting to stay in-step with the times. Pastries, chocolate and coffee are the three main branches of a complete and worthy range of products. The first is represented by a remarkable assortment of cakes (classic, modern and seasonal), single-serving sweets (including vegan and gluten-free) and a kaleidoscope of large and mini pastries. For example, both among their cakes and pastries, you can try the "Incontro" , made with a crumbly base, gianduia mousse, soft cocoa biscotto and pistachio namelaka. In winter, try their hot chocolate and soft, delicious Carnival frieds dough. In summer, there's ice cream made with natural ingredients. All year round, they offer classic baked goods and Venetian specialties. If you can find a place, it's worth sitting in the small, well-kept outdoor courtyard. Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. One of Italy's leading pastry chefs, Denis Dianin is a well-known and established professional, known for approaching both sweet and savory baked goods with technique, research and perfectionism. Even if here in his Selvazzano location the food on offer has expanded over the past year to include a menu for lunch, dinner and a high-level aperitif with cocktails and wines, its beating heart lies with sweets. The long counter showcases a large selection of mini pastries reminiscent of jewels in their sophistication (one is called exactly that, the "Mascarpone Jewel"). And then there are the single-serving treats, which range from shortbread to semifreddos designed for every season. The pastry chef's great technique is evident just by looking at his creations: they're beautiful, precise, revealing painstaking work and unwavering attention, as can be seen from the impeccable layering. The ability to manage sugar content in favor of full, distinctive flavors is just as important. A must is their pistachio gateau: soft amaretto with delicate pistachio Bavarian creamhighly delectable, you'll never tire of it. A stop for a delicious breakfast is also recommended. Sumptuous croissants and krapfen are made with doughs that are soft as a cloud, a sign of masterful leavening, and their fragrance and aroma testify to the use of quality ingredients. The difficult period reduced their daily production of mini pastries and cakes, like the excellent cremino, a crumbly and tasty shell of glazed almonds brimming with vanilla custard. Dino Pettenò was born a chocolatier and pours his mastery into the production of pralines, bars and truffles, made with prized cocoa and always offered in excellent, original and balanced combinations. The pastries, sophisticated and impeccably prepared, are certainly no less good. Their traditional Venetian desserts are made to perfection, but let yourself be tempted by the versions made with chocolate as well. Here it takes center stage in sumptuous cakes, light mousses and silky creams, tops mini pastries, fills cream puffs and fried dough. Don't miss their cakes. The Delizia di Bronte (a flour-free and soft cookie base, ricotta mousse, Sicilian pistachio cream and caramelized salted pistachios) stands out, as does the L'Appassionata (sponge cake, white chocolate mousse flavored with Madagascar vanilla and a layer of passion fruit) and the super chocolaty Vivaldi. Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. Situated along a main artery, Fabris has long been an essential stop for local gourmands and those who happen to find themselves passing along the route that runs from Cadore to the coast. It's managed by siblings Stefano and Cristina Fabris, who are successfully carrying on a family tradition that began with their parents, Antonio and Paola (the business's founders). All it takes is a look at the display counter by the entrance to get a sense of the shop's elegant and balanced style, a sensation that's confirmed when tasting their mini pastries, macarons and single-serving treats. Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. A family tradition of baking that goes back more than a hundred years (first only bread, the desserts came later). Still today, at Ferracina they work with the same passion, superb technique and excellent ingredients, making for an assortment of foods that continues to stand out for its high quality. At breakfast you may find it difficult to choose from the wide range of baked goods and toppings, and it's not easy to wrap your head around the infinite expanse of mini pastries. A dutiful special mention for their amazing custard: supple, silky and soluble, in the mouth the fatness of the eggs disappears, leaving room only for the fragrance of vanilla. Its best married with a masterfully puffed croissant or their tasty cannoli, a great classic done so well here that you never get tired of them. There's always room for new creations. Try, for example, the excellent Crema Maritozzo, a very soft vanilla scented dough enriched with abundant and fresh whipped cream. Orange and chocolate, marron glacé and chocolate, lemon, vanilla and extra virgin olive oil are just some of the appealing flavors of the soft plumcakes that embellish their desserts showcase. But savory foods aren't lacking either, nor do they disappoint expectations: both their sandwiches and stuffed savory croissants are delicious. Service that's up to the task.

It's a valid stop for breakfast, thanks to a wide assortment of baked goods that vary for the doughs used and flours, and fillings that satisfy both traditionalists (jam, cream, chocolate and pistachio) and those looking for something more original. Think about trying their brioche cheesecake, the peach and amaretti version or their citrus fruit sticky bun (the wholemeal versions are also delicious, both the variant with pears and with orange and ginger). Their baked goods are well made, especially the soft and moist plumcake (the citrus fruit is highly pleasant), while among their mini pastries, we recommend the cestino with cream and fruit (it's made with tasty cream, fresh seasonal fruit and an imperceptible veil of jelly). The cakes (both traditional and modern versions) reveal expert hands and good technical skills. In the summer mousse and layered creations prevail, like the nicely balanced, raspberry and pistachio cake.

Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. The winds of change are blowing at the pastry shop owned by Enrico Tedesco. The pandemic gave him a good reason to reboot, and so he decided to completely renovate the restaurant's interiors, turning the page with respect to the past. The restyling, which gives more space to displaying products and to the tasting room, is characterized by striking chromatic contrasts (white brings out the products and black confers elegance to tables and chairs), all linked by studied shades of blue and pink. The approach to making pastry is unchanged. It's still creative and natural, as harmonious in appearance as in flavor. There at least twenty types of mini pastries in their new showcase, including portions by the glass (the tiramisu is truly delicious) and different types of mousse, which anticipate their popular, modern cakes, a sector where Tedesco has achieved very high levels. The catalog also includes single-serving sweets, classic and made-to-order desserts, chocolate creations, biscuits and a delicious range of baked breakfast foods made with sourdough starter. The philosophy that guides their work in their kitchen is based on authenticity and sustainability, while the choice of ingredients increasingly centers on local and small, natural producers. Packaging draws on environmentally friendly materials. Service is made up of a young and close-knit team.

Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. A shop that's grown and evolved, and that today continues on its path while following clear principles. For Francesco Ballico, ingredients are a key priority, starting with the fundamentals (flours, eggs, milk and butter), used with experience and creativity to create attractive, tasty and original products. The service is attentive and well organized, the atmosphere lovely and well-kept, the display counter very tidy. A notable procession of breakfast foods begins the day, with not-to-be-missed croissants made highly digestible thanks to long and masterful leavening. A nice note of butter is discernible though not intrusive, both when it comes to their conventional croissants and those made with wholemeal flour and honey. Savory sandwiches and croissants, stuffed with quality ingredients, are shown the same care. Single-serving treats and cakes are among their flagship products. To get an idea, try the Sottobosco, a breton sablé made over with milk gianduia, creamy double vanilla (Tahiti and Madagascar), spheres of liquid raspberry and berries. It masterfully balances sweetness and acidity. For those who love full flavors, the Cherau brings together caramelized Savoyard, ricotta cream, rum, raisins and candied orange. Another must are their soft and pleasingly buttery classics, which are always available (both in-store and online), and excellent 100% natural ice cream, available in a handful of flavors.

Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. This welcoming shop, contemporary in style, serves as the lovely showcase for an assortment that has stood out for its excellent quality for decades now. And in fact, Daniele Allegro's L'Arte della Pasticceria will put a smile on your face right from the early morning, with its procession of always fragrant, puffy baked goods, sorted and divided into shapes, sizes and fillings. The valid selection of coffee is an added value worth taking into consideration, but here the protagonist is sourdough starter, which reigns supreme in the kitchen and is the pillar around which production revolves. It goes without saying, their approach shines best during the holidays, when you can appreciate colombe, panettone, pandoro and Venetian focaccia, all naturally free of preservatives or emulsifiers. There are various specialties worth noting, including the pandoro puff pastry, the lactose-free panettone (made with olive oil) and the savory version (with Taggiasca olives, dried tomatoes, anchovies and capers). Their whole selection of savory food is interesting, with tasty solutions to accompany their aperitif or for a lunch break. In the windows you'll also find large and mini pastries, dry pastries, macarons and meringues. Don't forget their cakes (both traditional and modern) and semifreddos. A part of the counter is dedicated to ice cream. Well-organized and efficient service.

Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. Gifted with a strong spirit of initiative, pastry chef Luca Scandaletti is certainly not one to sit idle. And so while managing his shop, long a popular meeting place at any time of day, he's working to further expand production with a second kitchen (also based in Arcella). The shop brings to mind the square in Brussels where Wittamer is based. A crucial stage in his career, it was here that, learning from Belgian maître chocolatiers, he had the opportunity to hone his techniques in the field of chocolate making, a great passion and art that still plays a key role in his pastries (divided into various sections with the same professionalism). Even the sweetest of teeth will be spoiled for choice when it comes to the generous range of pastries, biscuits, breakfast sweets, macarons, bicchierini, mousses, cakes and traditional Italian holiday specialties, when in season. And then there's their ice cream and their savory foods, for those looking for a snack or complete meal. Some suggestions: the veneziana with sourdough starter and Chantilly cream, the single-serving dessert with two chocolates (white and Francy 68%) and their two-flavored macaroons (like salted caramel and dark ganache). Their selections of artisanal products off the shelf and wines are also interesting.

Lovely creations for ceremonies, all decorated with care and elegance. Their assortment of Italian holiday classics is notable. Try their soft and lemony Agostin (also available in a wholemeal version with Muscovado sugar and semi-candied apricots), soft and tasty panettone, veneziana, colomba and the soft Avola (made with Avola almonds and pistachios, it's also ideal for those intolerant to gluten and lactose). Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. A popular stop for Castelfranco locals and those from the surrounding area, Opera is situated close to the scenic Piazza Giorgione, enough so to enjoy a central position (but without the parking difficulties). It's the domain of Alberico Titton, the talented, expert pastry chef who leads the shop (and adjacent kitchen) together with his wife, Daniela Baldon. Welcoming guests is a grand display counter, which showcases a carefully arranged and colorful assortment that brings together form and substance. Fresh pastries and pastries for tea, single-serving treats, macarons, pralines, classic and modern cakes: the repertoire is vast and includes pleasant digressions into the world of savory foods (to accompany offerings from the café). Everyday, sourdough starter and slow preparation times give rise to a bouquet of fragrant breakfast foods, while during the holidays you'll find ten varieties of panettone (the same holds for Easter with the colomba, which is accompanied by spectacular chocolate eggs). Alberico's research stays close to the territory, borrowing ingredients from local gastronomic tradition and proposing them in unusual ways as desserts (see the many specialties made with candied radicchio). If you want to taste their homemade ice cream, you need only walk a few meters to their second shop, Il Gelato di Alberico, in via Filzi 27.

Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. This historic family-run pastry shop is always a sure bet, a place where the technique and talent of Mario and Alessandro Busato go hand in hand with the best ingredients, passion and exceptional technical skill. Tradition and territory are given their due: in the homeland of prized Vialone Nano, rice gets the right amount of attention, even when it comes to desserts, with specialties like the classic risino, rice cake and the "risone". But there are many delicious temptations. In the morning try their croissants and unmissable pain au chocolat. There are also well-made cakes, like their millefeuille, the Meraviglia (almond brittle wrapped in white chocolate mousse, raspberry jelly and pistachio cream) and the Allegra (an amazing hazelnut praline brittle, creamy with salted caramel and mousse with milk chocolate). You'll find plenty of pastries to indulge in, from classics such as cannoncini to highly recommended cream puffs, not to mention sandwiches and stuffed croissants. The festivities bring specialties like panettone, colombe, zeppole, galani and pastiera to the counter. In the shop area they sell coffee, jams (pear and vanilla, apricot and passion fruit), puff pastries and baci di dama in jars. The place is small, but kind and attentive service guarantees a great experience.

Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. Situated in this lakeside town's busiest square, Bido makes a fine show of itself, having become a favorite destination for those in search of a relaxing gourmet break (you can also enjoy their lively outdoor area in Piazza Ferretto). The shop's fame is bound up with Alvaro Bido, who started the business more than 20 years ago. Today production takes place in their Noale kitchen, but the quality hasn't been affected. A pleasant and modern atmosphere is matched by an assortment of fresh, innovative pastries: a line of mini pastries with geometric shapes, elegant single-serving treats, macarons, éclairs and pralines. Then there are their cakes, modern in style, like the Perla e Rubino (a soft white chocolate bavarois with red fruit jelly and almond sponge cake) or the Sahara e Avola (with two chocolates). In the morning, they offer fragrant baked goods for breakfast, made to perfection and available in many variations, including krapfen donuts, raisin sticky buns and croissants. As an aperitif, they serve Spritz and savory snacks, and there's no shortage of stuffed croissants and pizzas, ideal for a lunch break. Soon the pastry shop will be joined by a bistro, which is being completed in a space acquired at the beginning of 2021.

Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. Situated in the heart of Marostica, this historic pastry shop has been managed by the Chiurato family since 1972. First and foremost, it's a place to go for a breakfast with all the trimmings, thanks to a combination of quality and variety. Try the simple croissants (you'll appreciate the delicate aroma of butter and the even puffing made possible by long, natural leavening), though the topped versions deserve the same attention (custard, pistachio, blond or dark chocolate, jams, peaches and amaretti). Here classic Italian baked goods are an art, a fact that's aptly demonstrated by their focaccia, traditional panettone and colombe (available year round: there's the classic version, with three chocolates and a peculiar version with local Marostica cherries, which confer a characteristic and intense aroma). The venue is large and well-kept, the central counter captivates with its infinite expanse of neatly arranged, well-prepared mini pastries. To the right you'll find the corner dedicated to chocolate, another area where Chiurato stands out for its experience and skill. Here it's offered in classic bars and simple, flavored and filled chocolates. Their classic cakes draw on crumbly, light shortcrust pastry, and recipes that bring out their aromas. The modern cakes, like tea and mandarin mousse, are also notable. Fast and helpful service.

Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. Over 60 years of history mean that this pastry shop has solid roots and undisputed expertise. The Ton family's Pasticceria Dolomiti immediately stands out for its unconventional atmosphere, tastefully furnished with vintage objects. And the rich, interesting assortment churned out by their kitchen, which also supplies the Caffè Commercio (in centrally located Piazza Flaminio, in Serravalle) will also win you over. Craftsmanship is the watchword when it comes to a selection of products that successfully spans multiple sectors: carefully produced pastries (fresh, dry, savory), ice cream and chocolate. Their display case and shelves are overflowing with delights: about thirty types of mini pastries (even a simple fruit tart delivers satisfaction when it's prepared well, as is the case here), baked goods for breakfast (delicious pistachio croissants, sumptuous and generously filled krapfen donuts) and many "credenza" sweets (they'll keep well in your pantry and make a great gift idea). In their pleasant summer garden, a blackboard announces the flavors of ice cream available, including original combinations like almond and lemon, or mascarpone and pomegranate. There are also commendable classic, modern and "credenza" cakes, like Pecan Pie with nuts and chocolate. It's worth stopping in around the holidays, when you'll find plenty of delicious, seasonal creations. Friendly and well-prepared service.

Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. Next to the pastry shop we find a large kitchen owned by the Zizzola family. It's a sign that this café and pastry shop, led by Stefano, Barbara and their children Angela and Riccardo, is looking to the future, towards innovation and experimentation. The shop itself also demonstrates the fact: a procession of cakes, single-serving treats, mini pastries, macarons, baked goods and breakfast yeasts arranged in glass cases and on the shelves expresses a distinct and personal style. Attention to detail is the trademark of every creation, but it's a quality that goes beyond pure aesthetics (given their gustatory balance and delicacy), like the venetian with jam or cream, exemplary of lightness, or their special, airy and fragrant, brightly-colored croissants (pistachio, raspberry). Those who stop in are spoiled for choice: éclairs, ingots and special selections (macarons, mini pastries, pralines, biscuits) can all be enjoyed with coffee. An interesting note is their desserts by the plate, including the Cuore di Velluto (milk chantilly with hazelnut cream and a soft hazelnut meringue base) or Zlab tiramisu (with light mascarpone cream, soft chocolate biscuit and coffee). Classic holiday specialties are in the Zizzola family's DNA, and you can feel it. Majolica floor tiles and large windows mean that there are pleasant dining areas both indoors and outdoors. Friendly and helpful service.

Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. The pastry shop overseen by Gianni Zaghetto and Monica Lazzarini (he at the head of the kitchen, she in the shop itself, accompanied by a staff of valid collaborators) has made pure elegance its trademark. Each pastry manages to strike a perfect balance of textures and flavors, meaning that they're both pleasing to the eye and equally satisfying on the palate. Creativity distinguishes the entire product range, which is continually embellished with new creations and manages to masterfully explore every area of dessert: fresh and dry pastries, ice cream, chocolate. Among the most popular cakes is their delicious Lingot Cake Star (also available as a single serving), a cocoa brownie with hazelnuts, pear jelly and coffee-flavored white chocolate ganache. They've also been experimenting successfully with artisanal ice cream. In addition to the classic flavors and formats, there are delicious ice cream cookies and cups (for example "Tropicana", which combines the taste of cream with the flavors of tropical fruit, including mango, pineapple and passion fruit). A special note for their packaging, which brings out the best of both in-store and online purchases. The atmosphere, with its small dimensions, is made attractive by spectacular seasonal decorations and lovely outdoor tables. It's also popular for wedding desserts and personalized cakes for special occasions.

Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. When it comes to Venetian pastry, Rosa Salva is a veritable institution, especially its most famous location in Calle Fiubera, not far from Piazza San Marco (but today there are three locations in Venice and Mestre, in addition to managing the café in Teatro La Fenice). The business has its origins back in 1876, and its history is full of public figures and important events. But over that time, the roots of a family dynasty that's now unfolded over six generations has never been lost. Their flagship product is their artfully made fried dough (fritole), which attracts crowds of Venetians and tourists during the Carnival period. Everyone can choose their favorite variant, topped with raisins and pine nuts or chantilly and zabaglione. The assortment includes a bit of everything, and it's all well made: breakfast pastries, mini pastries, biscuits, single-serving treats and mousses, and holiday specialties from pandoro to colomba and panettone. Among the new additions to their product line, you'll find the "fugassa" (dedicated to the shop's founder, Antonio, also known as "Salva") When it comes to savory foods they offer the classic fare: carefully prepared tramezzini sandwiches, pizzas and savory pies, all of which can be consumed seated (for lunch there's also some hot daily specials). At their Campo San Giovanni e Paolo location, you can also try their ice cream. Well-stocked online shop.

Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. A cheerful and lively pastry shop managed by two young professionals. Siblings Lisa and Marcello Tombolato grew up in a family of restaurateurs, but decided to forge their own personal path dedicated to the "sweet arts". From breakfast to aperitif time, their café, which has quickly become a popular stop in the area, attracts customers of all ages. It's all thanks to a well thought-out proposal, where the focus is always on quality: quality ingredients, recipes and service. The morning is sweetened by a nice assortment of fragrant, yeast-leavened baked goods (croissants stuffed with creams or jams, raisin braids, apple puff pastries ...) accompanied by well brewed coffee. Plumcakes, which come in different flavors (lemon, chocolate and orange, gianduia and chocolate chips) and formats (including single-servings), are among their mainstays. They're displayed next to the other mini cakes, like their original tiramisu, made with biscuits dipped in coffee, mascarpone mousse and a sprinkling of cocoa. There are also mini tiramisus, together with a range of enticing "mignon". Their savory foods are also homemade: sandwiches (panini and tramezzini), quiche and croissants. Italian holiday classics, biscuits and ice cream round out the range of foods on offer. Everything can be delivered.

Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. Situated in the Dorsoduro district near the Basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari and the Church of San Rocco (just a few minutes from Piazzale Roma), Tonolo is rightfully included among the city's historic pastry shops, highly appreciated by Venetians and a popular stop for tourists. Founded in 1886, the shop's fame is bound up mainly with its celebrated focaccia (30 hours of natural leavening, flavored with Marsala and Alchermes, and very soft). In the early-20th century it was awarded at the Domestic Economy Expo in Paris. Inside, its long counter occupies much of the small space available. Starting at breakfast, the kitchen churns out krapfen donuts, puff pastries and baked goods of excellent quality, all to be accompanied with a nice coffee. Things continue with traditional sweets, from cream cannoncini to choux pastries, diplomatici, cold and baked cakes (try the Sachertorte with cream and meringue) and a repertoire of traditional biscuits, foremost the bussolà. At Carnival, don't miss their fried dough, long a house specialty, in the classic version with raisins, or filled with chantilly, with apples, or zabaglione. A small assortment of savory dishes is also available, like pizzas and pies. Kind and cheerful service.

Due Torte (2/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. Rightfully considered one of the city's historic venues, since 1900 this pastry shop has been operating in front of the Palladian Basilica. In 1964 it was taken over by the Ferracina family, who continued the business while preserving its recipes and atmosphere. The always striking shop windows are iconic, inviting you to enter and indulge, perhaps at their tables or in the pleasant outdoor dining area overlooking Piazza delle Erbe. Right from the outset things start well, with ten types of croissants offered at breakfast (the dough has a moderate sweetness that goes well with fillings like almond and pistachio marzipan). The puffed pastries are excellent, pleasingly caramelized and filled with apricot jam. The shortcrust cestini, a valid alternative in the morning or for an afternoon break, feature fillings like dark chocolate and coconut cream, ricotta and honey and that great Venetian classic, the version with rice. Their assortment of mainly traditional fresh pastries see "mignon" accompanied by large format, "old-fashioned" delights. Many are made up of two biscuits and syrup (with alcohol or alcohol free), a creamy filling and a fondant sugar glaze (made with sumptuous custard). The cakes are rich in flavor and nicely balance sweetness and texture. Millefeuille is a house specialty.

Una Torta (1/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. With the definitive closure of their shop in the ancient heart of Conegliano, an important chapter in the history of the Battistuzzi family comes to an end. The family have decided to concentrate resources and energy on the management of the shop adjacent to their Mareno di Piave kitchen. A trim, linear style and light tones mean that a pleasant feeling of order and cleanliness prevail. The display counter provides an overview of the daily food on offer: the first section is dedicated to baked breakfast goods, with an enticing range of naturally-leavened pastries. There are at least ten different types of croissants, in addition to the usuals (plain, filled with pure apricot purée, vanilla or chocolate cream), alongside pistachio sticky buns, chocolate and raspberry sweet rolls and braids with almonds. There are twenty or so mini pastries, like the Madagascar (with chocolate and raspberry ganache) or the streusel tart with yogurt and strawberry. Their artisanal assortment of foods includes chocolate creations, fruit jellies, biscuits, tea pastries, modern cakes and "credenza" sweets (they'll keep well in your pantry) that allow you to rediscover ancient flavors. Coffee and a selection of drinks proposed in combination with sweet house specialties can be enjoyed at one of their tables.

Una Torta (1/3) — Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2022. This popular pastry shop and café is large and modern. Here the color white dominates, though the atmosphere is never cold. There's a counter dedicated to coffee and yeast-leavened breakfast sweets, and a longer one that showcases a rich range of mini pastries and cakes. Here the style is modern, especially when it comes to cakes and semifreddos, which feature skillfully balanced combinations and juxtapositions. An example is the Picasso, sponge cake with black tea, red berries, berry mousse and a heart of white chocolate mousse. It's an excellent combination of aromaticity, sweetness and acidity. The aesthetic is pleasant, though a bit more finesse would provide the touch it deserves. Their petits fours are beautifully executed, with shortbreads and cream puffs standing out. A nice assortment of biscuits. At Carnival, we recommend their crunchy fried dough filled with everything from custard to hazelnut, Bronte pistachio, black cherry and zabaglione. Both their small, yeast-leavened sweets and the traditional classics are exquisite, like colombe, Venetian focaccia and especially their panettone. Technical skill, sourdough starter, quality butter and flours make it a successful product. Try the classic version (rich, fragrant and superbly soft) as well as variants with berries, with pears and chocolate or apricots and chocolate. Punctual and well-prepared service.

For quick purchases, their delicious and varied tea pastries come in practical, pre-packaged trays. Moving on, you'll reach their breakfast sweets, strategically placed by the café. You can't help but be tempted by their assortment of fragrant croissants (plain or with cream, pistachio, chocolate fillings) and delicious krapfen donuts, filled with cream or jam. The cakes range from semifreddos to personalized creations, not to mention the "credenza" sweets (they'll keep well in your pantry), like the Linzer torte and Sachertorte. Listed in Gambero Rosso Top Italian Restaurants 2026 (Italian Bakery). "All ends well with tarallucci and wine," says a popular Italian saying: is the best way to resolve any kind of dispute. It is an attitude to avoid conflict and focus on the little pleasures of life: there is much of Italy's character in this saying. The project of Luca di Pietro, accompanied by Wine Director Lorenzo Baricca, was an immediate success. Born in 2001, Tarallucci e Vino is now part of a five-restaurant group in New York that includes the flagship store of Union Square and the last-born, Nomad in the East Village. An elegant, multifunctional place, which is open from breakfast to after dinner. Homemade pastas, such as cappellacci and gnocchi, but also well made cocktails. The strong point is the wine list that seeks to showcase little-known grapes such as nascetta, petit arvine, olivella, and schioppettino. Essentially, a wine list made with love.
