Aso UNESCO Global Geopark

UNESCO Global Geopark, inscribed 2015, in Japan. Dive into the hot spring waters of Aso’s onsen in Uchinomaki, Jigoku, Tarutama, and the mountain resorts of the Oguni-go area. Drive through the vast grasslands on the Milk Road. Between mid-February and March, it’s noyaki season, when local communities undertake controlled burnings. Take the Mt. Kishima trail route starting from the Aso Volcano Museum. At the top, enjoy a spectacular view of the northern part of the Aso caldera, with the Nakadake volcano still fuming in the background.
