UNESCO Global Geopark, inscribed 2015, in Japan. The Hidaka Yabakei, a breathtaking 7-km stretch of cliffs where Mt. Apoi plunges into the Pacific, marks the ancient collision site of the Eurasian and North American Plates, with the Hidaka Main Thrust boundary still visible today. The historic Samani Mountain Path, built 200 years ago to navigate the cliffs along National Route 336 (Golden Road), is now a picturesque footpath offering stunning coastal views.
