Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark

UNESCO Global Geopark, inscribed 2017, in Iran. Take a trip to Hengam Island to see dolphins, or go snorkelling to witness the diversity of tropical fish swimming in the coral reef. Visit Bandar Laft on Qeshm’s north shore, popular for its Lenj Shipyard where traditional boats are still built and for its badgir (windcatchers), an ancient Persian architectural feature used to ventilate houses. Visit the Namakdan Salt Complex and the Namakdan Salt Cave, a 7-km chasm of multi-coloured galleries and beautiful salt crystals.
