Karawanken / Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark

UNESCO Global Geopark, inscribed 2015, in AT,SI. The historic Podzemlje Pece Mine, with over 800 km of tunnels, can be visited by taking an old mining train, by mountain bike, or even by kayaking the flooded galleries 700 m below the surface. 'The Castles of King Matjaž' is a unique snow-castle-building competition, taking place on the last weekend of January in the region of Koroška, Slovenia. One of the longest mountain-biking flow trails in Europe – the Petzen Flow Country Trail, an 11 km journey starting at 1,700 m above sea level.
