Katla UNESCO Global Geopark

UNESCO Global Geopark, inscribed 2015, in Iceland. Witness the northern lights between September and March. Visit the Icelandic Lava Show in the town of Vík, an exhibition where lava from the 1918 Katla eruption is re-melted and flows into the exhibition room. Hike the Fimmvörðuháls trail from Skógar to Þórsmörk and between the Eyjafjallajökull volcano and the Mýrdalsjökull ice cap.
