Pollino UNESCO Global Geopark

UNESCO Global Geopark, inscribed 2015, in Italy. Hike to the top of the region’s highest peaks: Serra Dolcedorme (2,267 m), Mount Pollino (2,248 m), Serra del Prete (2,181 m), Serra del Ciavole (2,127 m), and Serra di Crispo (2,053 m). Visit the Laino Castle and historic centre and the castles of Valsinni and Castrovillari. Walk along the ancient ocean floor in Timpa della Murge, where ophiolite outcrops preserve remnants of the Tethys Ocean lithosphere.
