Basse-Lobaye Biosphere Reserve
1977UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 1977, in Central African Republic. Basse-Lobaye Biosphere Reserve lies in the south-west of the Central African Republic, bound by the Mengui and Lobe rivers to the west, the Lotemo to the east, the Kinga–Lombo–Lotemo road to the north and the border with the Republic of the Congo to the south. The reserve’s objectives are to conserve the forest–savanna mosaic and its Sudano–Guinean fauna, regulate wildlife use through recognised customary rights, sustain local livelihoods within ecological limits, and develop research, training and monitoring to inform adaptive management.
