Mount Elgon Biosphere Reserve (Kenya)

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2003, in Kenya. Mount Elgon was designated as a UNESCO biosphere reserve in 2003. It lies about 300 km north-west of Nairobi and extends into two counties, Trans Nzoia and Bungoma. Mount Elgon is the main contributor to the major rivers that drain into Lake Victoria, and it has a radial drainage pattern.
