Bura’a Biosphere Reserve

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2011, in Yemen. The terrain comprises mountains with severe to moderate slopes. The maximum slope exceeds 70 per cent in some areas, especially in the north and north-east, as well as on the western side. The rock ratio ranges between 50–90 per cent. There are bare and semi-bare rocks. The highest elevation above sea level is 2,200 metres, in the north-east boundary of the area near Azzan Mountain. The lowest elevation above sea level is 200 metres on the south-west side near Wadi Alaswad.
