Golestan Biosphere Reserve

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 1976, in Iran (Islamic Republic of). The Golestan Biosphere Reserve is located in northern Iran and forms part of the Caucasus–Iranian Highlands, situated between the sub-humid and semi-arid Caspian regions. The area includes temperate rainforest, cold-winter and semi-deserts, and mixed mountain and highland systems. A wide variety of habitats and rich biodiversity can be found in the reserve.
