Xishuangbanna Biosphere Reserve
1993UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 1993, in China. Located at the south-west tip of Yunnan Province in south-west China, Xishuangbanna Biosphere Reserve borders Laos to the east and Myanmar to the west in the upper Mekong basin. It comprises the largest and most comprehensive tropical forest in China. Owing to its distinctive geography and climate, it contains the country’s richest biodiversity. Tourism, agriculture and fishing are the main economic activities.
