Red River Delta Biosphere Reserve
2004UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2004, in Viet Nam. Set in northern Viet Nam where the Red River meets the sea, the Red River Delta Biosphere Reserve brings together estuarine wetlands, mangroves, mudflats, beaches and seagrass beds. The area lies on a major flyway for migratory waterbirds and centres on Xuan Thuy National Park, designated under the Ramsar Convention. The reserve’s purpose is to conserve estuarine ecosystems and sustain the coastal cultural landscape while supporting livelihoods linked to fisheries and mangrove use.
