Utwe Biosphere Reserve

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2005, in Micronesia (Federated States of). The Utwe Biosphere Reserve is located in the south-west of Kosrae, a small mountainous volcanic island in the South Pacific. The biosphere reserve lies on the relatively flat and narrow coastal plain that extends from the foothills to the shore. Most of the island’s interior is rough and rugged. Mangrove swamps and coral reefs surround most of the island.
