Great Nicobar Biosphere Reserve
2013UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2013, in India. Great Nicobar is the southernmost island of the Nicobar Islands archipelago. It covers 103,870 ha of tropical evergreen forest ecosystems. The island hosts rich biodiversity, including around 650 species of angiosperms, ferns, gymnosperms and bryophytes, among others. In terms of fauna, over 1,800 species are recorded, some endemic to the area.
