Romit Biosphere Reserve
2025UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2025, in Tajikistan. Located on the southern slope of the Gissar Range in Tajikistan, the Romit Biosphere Reserve ranges from 1,200 to 3,192 m above sea level. Its triangular territory is defined by the Sorbo River to the west, the deep gorges of Ushruta and Vashruta to the north, and the Karateginsky Ridge to the southeast. The biosphere reserve encompasses a diverse mountain landscape that serves as a key ecological refuge and a living example of sustainable mountain resource management.
