Zhouzhi Biosphere Reserve
2025UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2025, in China. Situated on both the northern and southern slopes of the Qinling Range in Shaanxi Province, Zhouzhi Biosphere Reserve straddles the boundary between China’s northern temperate and northern subtropical zones. This mountain range forms the watershed between the Yangtze and Yellow River basins and is a vital geographic and climatic divide. The biosphere reserve is 96% forested and serves as an ecological bridge between major biogeographic regions, while also sustaining cultural traditions and thriving local economies.
