Okskiy Biosphere Reserve

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 1978, in Russian Federation. The reserve lies south-east of Moscow along the middle course of the Oka River, within the Meschera lowland. It sits at the junction of three biogeographic zones: the broad-leaved forest zone, which comprises the largest part, the taiga and the forest-steppe to the south.
