Vodlozersky Biosphere Reserve
2001UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2001, in Russian Federation. Vodlozersky Biosphere Reserve is in the extreme north-west of the country. Mid-latitude and northern taiga landscapes are preserved here, and all kinds of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems typical of this zone are represented, including boreal coniferous forests with spruce (Picea abies and P. obovata) and pine (Pinus sylvestris), as well as mires, lake ecosystems and river ecosystems.
