Black Forest Biosphere Reserve
2017UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2017, in Germany. Located in southern Germany, in the state of Baden-Württemberg, this biosphere reserve comprises low mountain ranges, silvicultural forests, low plains, mountain hay meadows and lowland moors. Seventy per cent of the area is forested. The region has retained a distinct cultural identity, with customs and handicrafts. Sustainable tourism is widely promoted.
