Fray Jorge Biosphere Reserve

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 1977, in Chile. The territory of the biosphere reserve is located in the Coquimbo Region in northern Chile. The region is one of the most biodiverse in the country, with 3,429 plant species, excluding varieties, of which 1,605, or 46 per cent, are entirely endemic to this area.
