Manu Biosphere Reserve

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 1977, in Peru. The Manu Biosphere Reserve is situated in the departments of Cusco and Madre de Dios in south-eastern Peru. Its lowest point lies at 300 m, and its highest point, the summit of Apu Kañahuay, reaches 3,800 m. The reserve includes 19 habitat types and is among the most diverse places for birds in the world, with 860 identified species. There are numerous settlements of native communities, including the Matsigueka, Yine, Harakmbut and Quechua.
