Cuchilla del Toa Biosphere Reserve

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 1987, in Cuba. The Cuchillas del Toa Biosphere Reserve is located in the Greater Antilles in north-eastern Cuba and covers the mountain region of Sagua–Baracoa in Alejandro de Humboldt National Park. It extends across 208,305 ha, of which 6,013 ha is marine. Cuchillas del Toa is considered one of the principal centres of biodiversity and endemism in Cuba and the insular Caribbean. Habitats range from rainy mountain forests and cloud forests to xerophytic matorral and complex coastal vegetation with mangroves and coral reefs.
