UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2006, in Mexico. La Sepultura Biosphere Reserve comprises a range of ecosystems and natural habitats that represent major biogeographic regions, alongside traditional forms of local land ownership that determine different uses for management and conservation. The main ecological system, owing to its extent and biodiversity, is lowland deciduous or dry tropical forest, distributed in the lower parts of both strands of the sierra.
