Chocó Andino de Pichincha Biosphere Reserve

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2018, in Ecuador. Chocó Andino de Pichincha Biosphere Reserve lies in northern Ecuador, in Pichincha Province, north-west of Quito. Elevation ranges from 360–4,480 m above sea level. Together with the Amazon and Galápagos, its biodiversity and endemism have helped make Ecuador a recognised biodiversity hotspot. The Chocó Andino region spans two critical ecoregions: the humid forest lowlands of the Chocó–Darién (extending from Panama into western Ecuador) and the Northern Andean Mountain Forests.
