De Hondsrug UNESCO Global Geopark

UNESCO Global Geopark, inscribed 2015, in Netherlands. The Hünenweg / Hondsrugpad is an award-winning long-distance hiking trail of 325 kilometres long. The hiking trail connects the geoparks, De Hondsrug in the Netherlands and TERRA.Vita in Germany, and is considered among the most beautiful cross-border hiking trails in Europe. Visit Van Gogh’s House in Nieuw-Amsterdam, where the renowned artist lived and worked in the winter of 1883. Step into his preserved room, featuring his original bed and paint palette, and experience the authentic atmosphere of the era. The Nabershof is a traditional Saxon-style farmhouse, built in 1681. The oldest farmhouse in Emmen is a State Monument and is owned by the Drenthe cultural-historic society ’t Volk van Grada.
