Ferlo Biosphere Reserve

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2012, in Senegal. The biosphere reserve is located in the agro-ecological zone of Senegal called Ferlo. It is an area of low plateaux and alluvial plains formed by fossil valleys and temporary flows that join the Ferlo valley. The biosphere reserve is exploring options to diversify traditional livestock-rearing and subsistence farming livelihoods.
