Majang Forest Biosphere Reserve
2017UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2017, in Ethiopia. Located in the west of the country, this biosphere reserve includes afromontane forests in one of the most fragmented and threatened regions in the world. The landscape includes several wetlands and marshes. On higher ground, above 1,000 metres, vegetation is dominated by ferns and bamboo, while lower areas are covered with palm trees. This biodiverse region includes about 550 plant species, 33 mammal species and 130 bird species.
