Tsimembo Biosphere Reserve

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2025, in Madagascar. Along Madagascar’s remote western coastline, the Tsimembo Biosphere Reserve blends dry deciduous forests, lush floodplains, intricate mangroves, and Ramsar Wetlands of International Importance within the ecologically vital Tsimembo–Manambolomaty Complex. This mosaic of habitats forms one of the island’s most threatened yet vital ecosystems, providing refuge for remarkable biodiversity and sustaining the livelihoods of local communities.
