UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2011, in Jordan. Bordering the Dead Sea at 416 metres below sea level, the Mujib Biosphere Reserve surrounds Wadi Mujib, a deep canyon that cuts through the rugged highlands and drains into the Dead Sea. It is home to rich biodiversity, including 300 plant species and numerous resident and migratory birds.
