UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2016, in Algeria. The Tlemcen Mountains Biosphere Reserve spans nearly 100,000 hectares in the province of Tlemcen in north-west Algeria. Characterized by rich biodiversity and a semi-arid climate, it includes the Tlemcen National Park. The reserve also encompasses important archaeological sites, cultural landmarks, and caves. Its inhabitants engage in agriculture, particularly livestock rearing and grain farming, as well as administrative, commercial, and artisanal activities.
