UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 1997, in Cambodia. The Tonle Sap Biosphere Reserve is in the north-east of Cambodia. It includes Tonle Sap Lake, the most extensive freshwater lake in South-east Asia, which lies at the centre of the Tonle Sap Basin. The basin is bordered by the Dong Rek Mountains to the north, the Cardamom Mountains to the south-west, and small hills to the east that separate it from the Mekong River.
