UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2000, in China. Baishuijiang Biosphere Reserve is located in Wenxian County, Gansu Province. One of its primary aims is the conservation of the giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca). Baishuijiang is among the regions with the highest panda populations in China. The area is also important for biodiversity as it spans a large elevation range, from evergreen broad-leaved forests to alpine meadows.
