Tadami Biosphere Reserve
2014UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2014, in Japan. Almost the entire area of the Tadami Biosphere Reserve is mountainous at around 1,500 m above sea level, with a maximum altitude of 1,819.9 m and a minimum of 350 m. This excludes the basins of the Tadami River and its tributary, the Ina River. Steep massifs are found in the southern and western parts, while the northern mountains have slopes shaved by avalanches and exposed bedrock. In this complex topography, mosaic vegetation forms as plant communities adapt to each habitat. As the Tadami Biosphere Reserve lies within the Japan Sea climatic area, it has a humid subtropical climate.
