UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2021, in Viet Nam. Nui Chua Biosphere Reserve is set on Viet Nam’s south-central coast, in Ninh Thuan province. It brings together a large land–sea area that includes semi-arid coastal landscapes and adjacent marine waters. Notable features include extensive, highly diverse coral reefs, rich, ecologically linked seagrass beds, and sea turtle nesting beaches. The site represents the country’s tropical dry forest ecosystem and forms part of the globally important Annamite ecoregion. The reserve’s purpose is to create harmony between people and nature, guided by the principle: “conservation for development, development for conservation.”
