Raja Ampat Biosphere Reserve

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2025, in Indonesia. Located in the westernmost part of Papua, Indonesia, the Raja Ampat Biosphere Reserve spans across roughly 610 islands, atolls, and takas, of which only 34 are inhabited. This vast archipelago lies at the heart of the Coral Triangle, one of the planet’s most important marine biodiversity hotspots. Its landscapes and seascapes combine mangroves, white and black sand beaches, rainforests, and some of the richest coral reefs on Earth, forming a globally significant socio-ecological mosaic.
