Biosffer Dyfi Biosphere Reserve
1977UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 1977, in United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Situated on the south-central Welsh coast in the estuary of the Dyfi River, this biosphere reserve represents saltmarshes and estuarine systems in the west of the United Kingdom. The estuary is one of the most important wildfowl and shorebird centres in Wales, and it also comprises a Ramsar site. Cors Fochno has a large expanse of primary raised mire and contains many invertebrate species, including some of national and international importance. Upstream along the Dyfi Valley are remnants of native oak woodland.
