Tchervenata sténa Biosphere Reserve

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 1977, in Bulgaria. Chervenata Stena Biosphere Reserve is characterised by a complex of unique natural values, including relief, altitude, composition of basic rocks, and soil and climatic conditions. These determine the richness of the flora, mycota, fauna and natural habitats, represented by a significantly high percentage of protected, endemic and relict species. As a result, the biodiversity of the reserve has high conservation significance at national, European and global levels.
