Waterton Biosphere Reserve

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 1979, in Canada. Waterton Biosphere Reserve is located at the extreme south-west of the Province of Alberta and encompasses some of the most spectacular and ecologically diverse landscapes in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and prairie grasslands. Together with Glacier Biosphere Reserve in neighbouring Montana, USA, it encompasses the Waterton–Glacier International Peace Park, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1995, and sits at the core of the Crown of the Continent, a large, relatively intact transboundary ecosystem in North America.
