Sierra de las Nieves y su Entorno Biosphere Reserve

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 1995, in Spain. The geographical position of this biosphere reserve near both the Mediterranean and the Atlantic coast, including the Strait of Gibraltar, together with the altitude of its mountains, results in a humid Mediterranean climate in Sierra de las Nieves. The area consists of an extensive limestone mountain landscape with rocks and lithologies belonging to the Betica Mountain Range.
