Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Reserve
2000UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2000, in Canada. This biosphere reserve is located on the east coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia. It is close to the Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve, located on the other side of the island. Situated in the Coastal Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) biogeoclimatic zone, the forests in the area were logged in the early 1900s. Today, second-growth trees are reaching harvestable size, which leads to pressures from the logging industries.
