unesco

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2021, in Italy. Located in northern Italy, the Monte Grappa Biosphere Reserve encompasses the Monte Grappa Massif and its surrounding foothills. Set at the junction of biogeographical regions, it typifies the dynamics of the Eastern Italian Prealps and links the Po Valley with the Eastern Dolomites. The reserve conserves a rich mosaic of landscapes, ecosystems and biodiversity including 24 Natura 2000 habitat types, while fostering research, education and sustainable development. The reserve works to improve community well-being through green and circular economy approaches and corporate social responsibility, and counter long-term depopulation by engaging young people in safeguarding local values.
