Bosque Seco Biosphere Reserve

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, inscribed 2014, in Ecuador. Following the Peace Accord between Peru and Ecuador in October 1998, the two countries strengthened their fraternal ties, trust and cooperation across various areas. This led, in June 2017, to UNESCO’s designation of the Bosques de Paz Transboundary Biosphere Reserve. It was the first in South America and the 17th worldwide. The area comprises the Northwest Amotapes–Manglares Biosphere Reserve, extended in March 2016 and located in the Tumbes and Piura regions of Peru, and the Bosque Seco Biosphere Reserve, located in the provinces of Loja and El Oro in Ecuador and created in June 2014.
